Apple has announced the second wave of international iPad release dates but Irish users will have to wait until July to get their hands on the million-selling device.
Apple is now taking pre-orders on iPads for Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK for a 28 May release.
The Republic will be part of a third phase including Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore.
As an indicator of possible pricing the 16Gb, 32Gb and 64Gb Wi-Fi models will sell for £429, £499 and £599 repectively. In a move suggesting the end of network exclusivity deals, the 3G versions will be carried on both the O2, Vodafone and Orange networks for £529, £599 and £699. Each network will implement their own pricing structure with prices ranging from £2 per day on O2 (500Mb limit) to £25 per month for 10Gb on Orange or 5Gb on Vodafone.
A limit of two per customer will apply.
Apple has already sold over one million iPads and customers have downloaded over 12 million apps from the App Store, as well as over 1.5 million ebooks from the new iBookstore
